Meet The Colony

Rescued from the Washington State Humane Society in 2001, Dusty passed away in 2021 from old age.  Kim's best friend and companion. Founder of this organization.

Rescued from Fort Lauderdale in 2019, Papa passed away on January 17th, 2023. He was well over 20 years old. He will be missed.

Rescued from our neighborhood in Fort Lauderdale in 2010, he is one of our oldest and dearest friends here at Dustyland.

One of our newest rescued strays here in Clewiston, FL. He received medical care for his eyes and front paws.  He is a beautiful, playful cat.

Buffy was found on our doorstep in 2021. After a month we realized she was pregnant.  She and her two kittens (Spenser and Sunny) are happy indoor cats. In 2023, Buffy had a nasal stent surgically implanted in her nasal cavity to enable her to breath normally. She is doing great!

Spartacus was rescued from behind our shop in 2010 when he was a kitten. When he was about 4 years old he developed an immune disease wherein his gums started to reject his teeth. He had to have all his teeth removed. He used to be nicknamed, Turtle, because he always hid under pillows on the bed, but he has become a little black panther, adventuring outside using the cat door flap. He used to be totally black, but now has lots of grey! Spartacus is living a good life here at Dustyland!

Maggie, life-time companion of Papa, also rescued from Fort Lauderdale in 2019.  She misses Papa, but she is remaining strong and sweet.

Oscar is a joyful man who showed up on our property in 2022. He is a reluctant indoor car who keeps everyone on their toes.

Sunny is the daughter of Buffy. She is a sweet, gentle cat who loves to jump up on high furniture. Full time indoor cat.

Spenser is the son of Buffy.  He is a happy, gentle man who enjoys catching fluffy balls. He particularly enjoys when we retrieve the missing balls from underneath the refrigerator.  Full time indoor cat.

Princess Leia was found on our property along with her small kitten we named Georgie. She is happy to stay indoors full time. She really loves back rubs. Leia had to have all her teeth removed because of an auto-immune disease.  She is loving life here at Dustyland!

Frankie is an outdoor stray that comes onto our property occasionally.  We attempted numerous times to trap him for TNR. Unfortunately he has disappeared.  Assumed to have crossed the rainbow bridge.

Fauna is another cat rescued from our neighborhood in Fort Lauderdale in 2019. She is a full time outdoor cat. However, she usually comes inside when it rains or the weather is cold.

Georgie is the son of Princess Leia.  His right eye had to be surgically removed due to a congenital disorder. He may be the son of Frankie because Frankie had the same problem. Georgie is a happy full time indoor cat.

Mo was rescued from our neighborhood in Fort Lauderdale in 2019. Mo has learned to use the flap door to get inside and outside as he likes. He loves to rub against our legs and loves climbing trees. Mo enjoys cuddling up at night in bed.

Braveheart was rescued with his brother, Mo, from our Fort Lauderdale neighborhood back in 2019. He is always outside. On occasion, he will come inside for a small nap or when it rains. Prior to his rescue from Fort Lauderdale, something bad happened. He has severe PTSD, but Braveheart has earned his name. Although still skittish, he is letting us pet him and even pick him up.

Happy, fun-loving, and gentle, Samantha is a full-time indoor cat who was rescued as a kitten from our neighbor in January 2023.  She loves to play and tussle around with her big buddy, Andrew.

This mother and 5 kittens appeared on our property in July of 2022. The kittens would poke their heads around trees. That is why they have the name, "The Peekaboo Gang". The family consists of mother, Tiffy, and her 5 kittens, Molly, Jesse, Eddie, Brian, and Vinnie. The entire gang has been TNR'd and microchipped.

Tiffy is the mother of the Peekaboo Gang and is still very suspicious of us humans. She is a strong and brave little lady.

Molly is the daughter of Tiffy and is a member of the Peekaboo Gang.

Brian is a member of the Peekaboo Gang.  He stays outside with his family, but has allowed us to pet him. Very sweet little man.

Eddie is another member of the Peekaboo Gang. The other two brothers, Vinnie and Jesse are very skittish, but Eddie will let us pet him.

In 2022, Parker appeared on our property.  We told him to park here and he did.  Subsequently we named him, Parker.

Bobby got TNR'd on 3/4/2024 and is settling in at Dustyland with lots of medications to make him feel healthy again. He is extremely friendly and docile, just like his buddy, Munchkin. He's getting plenty of love and attention.

Jackson showed up in 2023.  Very sweet, gentle and affectionate outdoor stray cat who learned how to use the flap door to come and go as he pleases.  He loves the indoor water fountain!

Munchkin is scheduled for TNR on 3/18/24 but he went with Bobby to his first vet visit on 3/14/24 to get medication for upper respiratory infection and hookworms. Munchkin is Bobby's buddy so they are both settling in together fine here at Dustyland.

Tom Tom visits every morning and evening to get some food.  He is terrified of humans and other animals, but he is letting me come close enough to place a dish of food in front of him. Everything will be done to help support him to have a happy and healthy life. As soon as we may trap him, he'll get TNR'd.

Vinnie, son of Tiffy, member of the Peekaboo Gang, loves to climb trees.  He is so happy here.

Jesse, son of Tiffy, member of the Peekaboo Gang, loves to climb trees like his brother, Vinnie.  He is also so happy here.

Jason appeared at Dustyland in December 2023. We took him for his dental surgery, but the vet did a blood test and diagnosed him with end stage kidney failure so he took the rainbow bridge on 1/29/24

Walter is a sweet, friendly, and highly active cat. He is a wonderful addition to Dustyland. He enjoys being an indoor / outdoor cat and is comfortable with the cat door flap.

Chloe had a rough start with his TNR. Also, when we first saw him, we thought he was a girl and called him, Chloe. He is a boy, but is so sweet, the name stuck. He and Walter love to play and frolic outside. Chloe is also an indoor/outdoor cat who uses the cat door flap easily. Despite the rough start, he is a lovely, playful cat.
